UITE Handbook

Welcome

Dear Teacher Candidates, Site Teacher Educators, and University Supervisors:

Welcome to the 2024-2025 academic year!

Within the context of this handbook, you will find important information regarding program goals and expectations, program standards, student teaching evaluations, and general policies and procedures. The handbook will serve as a useful resource and answer many of your questions as you complete the final requirements for licensure or assist Teacher Candidates in doing so.

All members of the licensure year triad (Teacher Candidate, Site Teacher Educator, and University Supervisor) are expected to read and become familiar with the content of this handbook. We strongly encourage Teacher Candidates and Site Teacher Educators to review all requirements in the handbook together.  After reading, Teacher Candidates must print and sign the Contract Agreement found in the handbook and return the signed form to their Cohort Leader at the beginning of the semester. Throughout the coming year, Cohort Leaders and Academic Advisors will provide additional information regarding program procedures and requirements.

If you have any questions or concerns after reading this handbook, please reach out to your assigned Cohort Leader and/or Dr. Kerry Herman (Kerry.herman@utah.edu), the UITE Associate Director for Field Experiences.  If you have additional concerns that they are unable to address, feel free to reach out to me at the contact information below.

Sincerely,

Connor K. Warner, Ph.D.
