UITE Admissions Application

Accepted into the University of Utah, and seeking a teaching license? You're ready to start looking at UITE's admissions process.

What you need before applying:

  • Completion of at least one full semester of coursework at the University of Utah.
  • A current, cleared USBE background check. More information can be found here.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Three professional references who agree to complete our recommendation form (a letter of recommendation may also be submitted as a supplement).
  • Review the program-specific admission checklists for additional requirements and details.

Graduate Elementary Education
Elementary Education graduate programs are offered in partnership with ED PS or SP ED. Applicants must submit two applications:
  • UITE's Admissions (see above).
  • Graduate School's Admissions (ED PS or SP ED, see link below)

Professional References

Reference Identification Form

  • Once you have identified your three recommenders, complete the Reference Identification Form.
  • When completing your UITE admissions application, select "I have already identified my recommenders." Selecting a different option will cause the application system to request six recommender forms instead of the required three.

Reference form

  • Each recommender will receive a Reference Form by email to complete and submit.

Optional Letter of Recommendation

  • Recommenders may also submit a letter of recommendation to supplement the Reference Form.
  • For applicants to the 2026–2027 licensure year, optional letters must be emailed to Kristen Lindsay at kristen.lindsay@utah.edu by February 1, 2026.
  • Each recommender will receive a Reference Form by email to complete and submit.
