Sara Hatch
Teacher Education Advisor


Originally from Utah Valley, Sara is excited to be working at the University of Utah as the Teacher Education Advisor in the Urban Institute for Teacher Education. She earned her bachelor's degree in English Literature from Utah Valley University in 2011 and has worked in Education for 3 years. She loved working with students during her undergrad as a UV Peer Mentor and is excited about working with  students here at the U of U in her new advising role. Sara is extremely invested in helping students achieve their academic goals. She enjoys interacting with students, introducing them to the resources they need to be successful, and helping students explore the great opportunities higher education can provide. Outside of work, Sara enjoys reading good books, going to plays, spending time with friends and family, and eating chocolate.

Kim Howard
Program Assistant


Kim Howard has worked for the College of Education since 2012. Her roles in the UITE include overseeing the UITE's website and public relations materials and working with the UITE evaluation team to gather assessment data.

Karla Motta
Academic Bridge Coordinator


Karla Motta, M.Ed., serves as the Academic Bridge Coordinator for the College of Education- Urban Institute for Teacher Education at the University of Utah. Karla works in collaboration with local high schools, community organizations and university members to provide academic, career, and financial advising to education teaching majors. During her tenure within the Office of High School Services and Student Recruitment/Office of Admissions and the Latina/o Outreach Center, here at the University of Utah, she worked to implement programs that focused on increasing the number of underserved students in higher education such as the Black Student Leadership Institute, Latina/o Welcome, and the Student Ambassador Program. When she is not on campus, you can find her indulging in the great outdoors of Utah as well as the many eateries Salt Lake City offers. 

Kristen Lindsay
Academic Program Support Specialist


Kristen Lindsay joined the College of Education staff in 2012. She came from Wyoming where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Social Studies Education with a Minor in History from the University of Wyoming. She completed her student teaching on the Wind River Indian Reservation in 2006. Kristen spent five years as a substitute teacher before moving to Utah. She enjoys working with students and helping them achieve their academic goals.
